    is there an easy way to bypass the built in slider and use another? I tried setting the home pg to a parent template and then just adding a child pg with the slider, but when I do that I get empty space at the top of the page.

    Please add the css code in the path: Appearance -> Theme Editor -> Style.css, please put it in the end of the file:

    #slider .container {padding-top: 0 !important;}

    I could alternately put it under appearance -> customize -> additional css, yes?
