Newsletter uses MailChimp so when you add your API key to wp-admin > MailChimp API > API Key, you should be able to see subscribed users in your mailchimp account.

Ah yes sorry. Unfortunately, HTML version only provides the design. You need to add your own working newsletter form.
The best solution is to use the WordPress theme.
